📱Overview

DayKeeper ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our anniversary tracking application.

Key Principles:

• Offline-First Design: DayKeeper works completely offline. All data is stored locally on your device.
• No Data Collection: We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on our servers.
• Optional Cloud Sync: Network access is only used when you actively choose to sync encrypted backup files across your devices using cloud storage services (iCloud, Google Drive, etc.).
• User Control: You decide if and when to use cloud sync features. The app works perfectly without internet access.

💾Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

All your anniversary data, including event names, dates, notes, and associated images, are stored exclusively on your device. This data includes:

• Event titles and descriptions
• Event dates and countdown/count-up information
• Custom colors and icons for events
• Photos or images associated with events
• App preferences and settings

Encryption

DayKeeper uses AES-256-CBC encryption to protect your data at rest. This military-grade encryption ensures that your anniversary information remains secure on your device.

Data Export and Import

You have full control over your data through our export and import features:

• Export: You can export your anniversary data as an encrypted backup file stored in your device's local storage or cloud storage of your choice (iCloud, Google Drive, etc.)
• Import: You can restore your data from previously exported backup files
• Security: Export files are encrypted using the same AES-256-CBC encryption standard

Note: When you choose to save export files to third-party cloud services (like iCloud or Google Drive), those services' privacy policies apply to how they handle your encrypted backup files.

🌐Network Access and Cross-Device Sync

Why Network Access May Be Requested

When you first launch DayKeeper, your device may ask for network access permission. DayKeeper itself does not require an internet connection to function. However, network access may be requested for the following optional, user-initiated features:

Cross-Device Data Synchronization

Network access is used only when you actively choose to sync your data across devices using cloud storage services:

• iCloud Sync: If you enable iCloud Drive, your encrypted backup files can be automatically synced across your Apple devices
• Manual Cloud Backup: When you export data and save it to cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.)
• User Control: You decide when and if to use cloud sync. The app works perfectly offline without it

How Cross-Device Sync Works

1. You export your data as an encrypted backup file
2. You choose to save it to iCloud Drive or another cloud service
3. The encrypted file syncs through your cloud storage provider
4. On another device, you import the backup file to restore your data
5. All sync happens through your chosen cloud provider's secure infrastructure

You Can Decline Network Access

Important: If you prefer to keep DayKeeper completely offline, you can safely decline the network permission request. All core features will work perfectly:

• ✅ Create, edit, and delete anniversaries
• ✅ View countdowns and count-ups
• ✅ Track milestones
• ✅ Save images to your photo library
• ✅ Export/import via local files (without cloud sync)

The only limitation is that you won't be able to automatically sync data across devices through cloud services.

🔐Information We Do NOT Collect

DayKeeper does not collect, transmit, or process:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Location data
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Usage analytics or tracking data
• Any data about your anniversaries or events
• Photos or images you add to events
• Any information entered into the app

We cannot access your data because it never leaves your device.

📸Permissions and Features

Photo Library Access

DayKeeper requests access to your photo library for the following purposes:

• Save to Album: Save generated anniversary images to your device's photo album
• Add Photos: Attach photos to your anniversary events (optional)

Photos are stored locally within the app and are never uploaded to external servers. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

Share Functionality

When you use the share feature to share anniversary images:

• Images are generated locally on your device
• Sharing is handled by your device's native share system
• You choose which app or service to share with (Messages, social media, etc.)
• We do not track or record what you share or where you share it

Note: When you share content to third-party services, their privacy policies apply.

👥Third-Party Services

DayKeeper does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app operates completely independently without external dependencies for core functionality.

The only external interactions occur when you explicitly choose to:

• Cloud Storage Services: Save encrypted backup files to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or other cloud storage providers for cross-device sync
• Social Sharing: Share anniversary images through social media or messaging apps

These interactions are initiated by you and controlled by your device's operating system, not by DayKeeper.

Cloud Storage Privacy

When you choose to use cloud storage for backup or sync:

• Your data is always encrypted with AES-256-CBC before being saved to cloud storage
• Cloud providers (Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc.) store only encrypted files that they cannot decrypt
• Each provider's own privacy policy governs how they handle your encrypted backup files
• You can delete cloud backups at any time through your cloud storage provider's interface

Recommended Cloud Providers: We recommend using iCloud Drive (for iOS) or Google Drive (for Android) as they offer strong security, end-to-end encryption options, and seamless device integration.

🧒Children's Privacy

DayKeeper does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. All data is stored locally on the device, making it safe for users of all ages.

Note for Parents: If a child uses cloud sync features (iCloud, Google Drive, etc.), please ensure that the cloud service account is set up and managed by a parent or guardian, and that you understand the cloud provider's privacy policies regarding children's accounts.

🔄Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

• Delete Individual Events: Remove specific anniversaries at any time
• Clear All Data: Delete all events and settings from within the app
• Uninstall App: Removing the app from your device will delete all local data permanently
• Delete Cloud Backups: If you've saved backups to cloud storage, you can delete them through your cloud storage provider's interface (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, etc.)

Important: Data deletion from the app is permanent and cannot be recovered unless you have created a backup. Similarly, deleting cloud backups is irreversible.

🌍International Users

DayKeeper operates primarily on your device, and your data remains in your physical possession at all times.

Cloud Sync Considerations: If you choose to use cloud storage for cross-device sync, your encrypted backup files may be stored on servers in different countries, depending on your cloud provider's infrastructure:

• iCloud: Apple stores data in data centers worldwide, with storage location based on your Apple ID country
• Google Drive: Google maintains data centers globally and may store data across multiple regions
• Other Providers: Each cloud storage provider has its own data residency policies

Remember: All backup files are encrypted with AES-256-CBC before being saved to cloud storage, regardless of where they are stored geographically.

📝Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top
• Providing an in-app notification for significant changes

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
